Something to cross off the Bucket List!

So if you have been following my blog you can see that I have been attempting to get noticed in the scrapbooking industry. I have applied for many a design team as of lately. My motto is to try, try, try and try again.. Which can get frustrating, but I love the hobby so at least I enjoy trying!

In March, I received a little recognition for one of my projects.  I was excited to find out that I had won the American Crafts Facebook challenge. My Pebbles tray was selected as the winner that week. You can see the link here. I will have to post some pics of the goodies they sent me!

Later that month, I had seen that Tonic Studios, a scrapbooking tools company was looking to add to their US design team. I had seen this on facebook... Can I just say that facebook has been a great way to network lately! So I went down and pulled out what I could find of my Tonic punches and tools and started searching my brain on what I could make that would stand out. I started with a sketch, which by the way looks nothing like the finished layout. My creative process at times is all over the place, which isn't always bad.

This is what I came up with, a lovely layout of my little niece. I have been waiting to come up with a cool idea on how to showcase this picture.

Well as luck would have it later on that week I checked my email and low and behold, I had an email asking if I would like to design for Tonic.

Let's just say it made my day! I was so excited!! I am so excited for this opportunity. I recently received my goodies to start playing with and designing with and also received my first assignment: Mother's day..

This weekend, I just completed my first assignment for them. I made a couple of mother day cards and a layout.

For now here is a sneek peak of the layout.

I hope you are all having a great month like I have had! Now I can cross one thing off my bucket list.  Now on to the next item! What is something that is on your bucket list?

Think Spring!

I just can't believe the weather we have been having here in Wisconsin. I think Spring Fever has definitely set in. Most of last month was gorgeous, which is not typically the case. I am not complaining though! So with spring in the air I start thinking about flowers! That in turn creeps into my scrapbooking! Here is a mini 6x6 7 Gypsies tray that I made the other day. Products that were used are Little Yellow Bicycle's Paradise line. The colors are really fun and being the size that it is it was a pretty quick project.

Here are a few pics of the tray.

I hope the weather where ever you are at is inspiring spring fever!

Getting back to basics...

My go to tool are punches.. I just love trying to use them in different ways. Whether its using them with a favorite paper, layering them to make different embellishments, using them in to get the perfect circle quickly... I think I love them so much because they are simple. Nothing better then just reaching for an item and then picking a paper applying some pressure and boom! You have your shape.  Don't get me wrong even the most simple tools can be used to make quite some fancy embellishments. Let alone some of the punches have come quite a ways!

Point in case, take a look at these Tonic Petal Pairs. These are so fun to use! You punch out two different flower petal shapes and the entwine them together. These are so pretty and you get tons of diversity depending on the papers you use. Also depending on how you entwine them together you can get a different look.  Here is a pick of the punches:

Here is a pic of what you can do with them. Can you see all the pretty colors? It was so fun putting them together and seeing how they would look.

Here is what I did with the punches. This was such a fun layout to do. I started out with one idea and ended up doing something totally different, and I love how this turned out!

Also with a basic shape punch if you want to add some new life to it or make a fancier embellishment, try this: Gather up a bunch of coordinating scraps, and then trim them into strips, next adhere the strips down onto a piece of coordinating cardstock, then punch.  I did this with the heart punch that I have. Here is the example:

I not only use Tonic punches, I also use their shape cutting system as well which is fun and easy to work with. Here is a pic of a layout that I used the circle and waves to make the background in the layout.

I love getting out some of my more basic supplies and seeing what cool things or trends I can do with them! I hope I have inspired some of you to get some of those go to products out and look at them in a new way!
